It's like saying what's the 'perfect woman'!!

Some people enjoy a 'larger' woman....(thinking of Purps specifically) the rest of us maybe don't 🤷🏼‍♂️

Most women are "larger' compared to Purps though.

Choose what you want from the set, be content that all concerned are happy with that choice, and crack on.

Having known very few 6s in 50 years of wargaming (especially at Partizan last weekend), the dice can fuck off!

Just had Neil and Per test play my rules virtually. Neil’s dice were shocking. I mean truly, truly, terribly, horribly shocking. It’s hard to get a sense of if the rules or scenario works when things like that happen. All you can do is play it again.

It all depends upon what you desire of course, but have you thought of a DBNish set of rules, tweaked to fit your period?

I’d say scrap them and start again with WRG 7th Ed

You get the same dynamic with the tax act.

My experience is that the perfect solo gaming rules are less than 10 pager, a 10 pt QRF on a sheet of A4.

For other players. you get mission creep past 30 pages and two pages of QRF. It is the human condition. I get the same effect with software manuals and workflow notes.

At the risk of catcalls, You could do worse than look at Phil Barker's 'Horse Foot & Guns', it has all the bare bones stuff you could build on quite easily.

I think you need to accept that at some stage the original set becomes overwhelmed by all the fiddly bits that have been added on and you need to scrap everything and reset.

Whatever happened to those "back of a postcard" rulesets that were hailed in one of the mainstream wargames mags some years back?
