I'm at a very dangerous stage with my Age of Migration armies.
The Late Romans are finished & I'm currently working on the final barbarian unit - some Hun heavy cavalry.
This means I've started looking at various manufacturers - Newline, Tumbling Dice, HaT- and thinking about expansion.
A few more units. Those Hun light horseman (armed with lance), or another Gothic foot archer unit. Those medium Goth cavalry would be good and a unit of Alan horse archers would look nice.
And what makes this more dangerous is an expansion of the barbarian army would mean I'd need to match it with the at the moment balanced Late Roman force. Buy more units.
This is where it starts. A army that can be used to fight a battle to a conclusion in a reasonable time becomes a bloated mass that can never & should never be used to crowd a wargames table beyond any logic.
I need to fight this urge but those as yet unpurchased figures look so nice.....

Re: A dangerous stage
What you do is buy enough goths to make a standalone goth army (both flavours), same with alans, vandals and huns. Then add a sassanid to the mix.

So he can get to your wallet more easily?Vade retro, Satana.
The cure for over-building your current army is to start planning what you want to build next. You know that. So what are your plans for your next army?
If "The System" is the answer, who asked such a bloody stupid question?

I have a similiar(ish) problem in which army do I rebase next. I have started, but not finished, rebasing ACW 28mm, SYW 28mm, Napoleonic 15/18mm and ECW 28mm.
