Donald, don't be hasty, mate. Surely you could sell one of the kids instead? I understand about the car- the love of my life, my HT Monaro, was sold for being unsuitable for carrying nappy-fillers.

Paul's advice is good. Take a look at what is currently fashionable on the resale market. Some things just won't shift at any price.

Sellers usually have one of three motivations:

Profit. Rarely works unless you're able to spot a bargain and sell it higher.

Generate funds for the new love. If your stuff is good and fashionable you may get a good price.

Freeing up space. You may have to take the hit and let them go cheap if you have to sell in a buyer's market.

I've found that the new non-paypal system for payments on Ebay seems to work pretty well, no hitches so far.

However why is it that a large proportion of people on the other side of the pond don't seem to understand how the postal system works? In the past two days i've had one enquiry asking why the postage for a set of rules from the Uk to the USA is more than a couple of dollars and another asking why they hadn't received the item which they had purchased two days before and has to cross the Atlantic! I've also heard from traders that a disproportionate number of claimed "non-deliveries" originates from that part of the world!
So the moral...send everything signed for and politely field the tw*ts.

I had similar a couple of weeks ago with an American cousin, as I clearly put on all my ebay sales that I only post to UK. He insisted on biding on several items even though I told him twice not too . When he won 3 items I then offered to post them for £40 but he did not want that and wanted to send me an unregistered on ebay address, for me to post them to in the UK ?. All this is against ebay selling / buying rules.
I cancelled the sale and out of spite he left 3 negative feedbacks and sent me several abusive and rude emails, so a couple of hours spent contacting ebay, reporting him to ebay they removed all the negative feedback.
So to make my life simple I have now blocked the rest of the world from biding on my items, only UK bidders can apply.

Well, off to a good start.

I put 4 SYW units on Ebay - 3 x 12 figure cavalry & 1 x 20 figure infantry (Revell 1/72), painted in my early indifferent style (as opposed to my later average style).

Australia Only, set price, free post & sign for the package : as per advice from you chaps.

2 units have sold for $38 each. This is more than I would have asked for.

I'll leave the other 2 units up & add 2 x 20 figure Zulus and a 10 figure AZW British unit & see how they go.
Then lots more Colonials, SYW, probably a 200 figure Revell Parliamentarian army & I may sell all my ACW stuff.
No hurry: I can take 12 months or more.

It'll be good to clear out the dross - stuff I'll never use.
Trouble is I can see myself growing addicted to the process & one day turning round to find only two NK Egyptian axemen & a Covenanter cannon left in the cupboard.
