Charge Nov 2021.

A real blast from the past looking game, and definitely none the worse for that.

Peeler always looks like that when he's playing Iain...

Nice pics of a classic game.

A lovely set-up - good work by Mark 2/Ilkley Old School, and nicely photographed.

That was such a fun game. Many thanks to Alex for being such a sport. And thank you Mark for letting us play with your beautiful collection. Was Peeler playing as well? I hadn't realised.

Excellent piccies, Fred.

That is exactly what a Napoleonic game should look like, it is a thing of beauty. How foolish I was as a young man to be sniffy about this aesthetic. It is perfect. And this is my favourite picture of a game in progress ever, two people clearly enjoying themselves, and a general with his head in his hands. It does not get better than that. I feel so chuffed that EB and I have managed to replicate that look for our ACW. The pleasure it gives is on another level. Nice set of pics Fredd, we should clearly make you our official Ayton photographer, I shall be saving so many of these to my hard drive.
Rules? You ask me what rules do I use. No, I don't do rules.

I would have taken more, but by the time I came to do it, you had finished.

As I said to EB, it was exactly the game style I grew up looking at, and now hanker for the simplicity again.

Not saying I do not love great terrain tables, I do. But the ease of this in setup....

Fantastic wargaming eye candy, this is what the hobby is all about enjoyment.
Thanks for sharing this fantastic iconic style of wargaming.

I also note that instead of beer cans on the table we now have spectacles instead, age catches up with us all

I've never understood why we don't have port and cheese for lunch.

Well good red for lunch, I save the port for after dinner.

Can you see this lot dressing up to do it justice!

(Note to self, arrange wine and cheeseboard for lunch if I make ayton 2022)
