Having just finished painting the Red Box Jacobite cavalry as the French SYW Orleans regiment, I thought I'd parade the combined cavalry
8 regiments worth and a colourful lot they look:
The light cavalry (Schomberg's Volunteerrs & a combined Hussar unit):
A Heavy cavalry brigade comprised of the Lusignan & Wurtemberg regiments:
The new Orleans regiment, brigaded with the Maestre de Camp General regiment:
And finally, the Dragoon brigade, led by a new French general, converted from a figure in the Red Box set:
As some of you know, French SYW cavalry in this scale are not to be had - all but one of the above units are conversions. This means quite a few incorrect details to do with uniform & horse furniture.
So, whilst not entirely satisfied with them, they mostly look the part IMO.

Thanks for the generous comments.
I am forced to quote the familiar Punch cartoon:
"Military Education. General. "Mr de Bridoon, what is the general use of cavalry in modern warfare?
Mr de Bridoon. "Well, I suppose to give tone to what would otherwise be a mere vulgar brawl!"

A fantastic selection of cavalry figures and has given me inspiration to finish off the several hundred cavalry figures I have in the to do box. Uniform details are subjective I don't sweat the small stuff, it is not worth waiting for figures required and conversion by painting is the easiest and cost plus time effective way to get armies on the table.
Excellent painting.

Thanks, Will. As you so ably demonstrate in the photos of your 1/72 SYW armies, thank goodness for Zvesda & their GNW line.Willz the Wargamer wrote: ↑Wed Jan 19, 2022 12:51 pm Uniform details are subjective I don't sweat the small stuff, it is not worth waiting for figures required and conversion by painting is the easiest and cost plus time effective way to get armies on the table.

IMO, these particularly suit the SYW French with their somewhat old-fashioned appearance.

And cover the infantry in dust and excrement.
