I was thinking that, myself. Unfortunately I gave my previous (Battle Honours) Napoleon away to a friend a few years ago, so can't compare them, but I do remember that he was essentially identical (including the telescope in his left hand), but just that little bit smaller and nowhere near as much of 'un gros batard'.

Needless to say, this brings on some PROPER Napoleonic geekdom, in that I once read that Blucher favoured a briar pipe in preference to a Meerschaum...

Top that for proper Napoleonic geekery! I bet that would generate 50 pages of frothing incandescence on PMT...

"I actually have four masters of Boney in my little drawer : The original BH version, in Fimo; and two slightly variant versions in metal which include the current AB one ; and an unissued 1790s figure. There's also another head. At this distance in time I can't recall when or why I made the one you have, but although it looks familiar. I don't seem to have it myself !"

Nah, Kiley wouldn't be interested - however, he would certainly complain that it was typical of an English sculptor to make his beloved Napoleon too small! And probably citing the fact that Tony B says he keeps them in "the little drawer".

True. Sorry, did I say 'frothing incandescence'? That should probably have been 'tumescence'.

Channelling my "inner chi....errr, Kiley" I have to say that I'm sorry, I don't believe Bonaparte actually said that - and certainly not in English. And besides, who else but the great man himself would merit the epithet "the great man himself"!
