SYW Prussian flag

Post by ochoin »

Well, a standard, really.

Does anyone know where I can source a standard for the PRussian Gard du Corps cuirassier regiment?
It's a bit of an odd one, the standard hanging off a crosspiece. Kronoskaf describes it but doesn't reproduce one I could copy.
I would prefer an internet source as I have to size it suit 1/72 figures.

I was going to suggest the Warflags site, but had a quick look and found that the GdC flags are missing from the Prussian cavalry section (as are those of the 7th Cuirassiers). Nothing on the internet with the required detail, as far as I can see -RMD might be your best bet.

Here's how it looks in Bleckwenn. When doing this in the past for 1806 I've used a Duchy of Warsaw eagle and some very fine silver chain, from which to suspend the crosspiece.

Note that Adolf Menzel also depicted it with the wings bent forward, as if flapping its wings.

Try this one if you want to, Donald. Based on Redlin's plate, with the style of eagle from 1742. Like all other pic's of this flag, it's speculative. It should print out at 28mm, or you can resize it using something like paint.net

Thanks, Dal.

Sadly, neither copy well- when I reduce them to 1/72, the yellow virtually disappears. Mark's version - with the gold lace- copies better.

I'll go with that one: 'Speculation' is my middle name (I got beat up a lot at school).

Parents can be so thoughtless (which, Ironically, was the middle name of both of my parents, so I guess grandparents can be, too).
