Dog with a Blog - Updated September 26 with Sharp Practice!

Post by Dog who drinks paint »

So I finally did it.

About 15 years after they were fashionable, and long after most people have moved on to video and podcasting, I have a blog. After some self indulgent posts it finally has a battle report. It is mainly for my own entertainment, and is obviously not replete with fantastic eye candy or in depth historical research like most people’s, but good taste and judgement has never been this place’s strong suit, so here you go..

The post explaining what it is all about is here: https://myyearwithcharles.blogspot.com ... ction.html

The blog home page is here: https://myyearwithcharles.blogspot.com/.

All feedback much appreciated, here or on the blog. (Assuming I have got ‘Comments’ set up correctly.)

  • Reduce the width of the page. Not everyone uses their browser full screen.
  • Learn to use the "read more function" in the post editor so you get summaries on your front page and people don't have to scroll down a lot to see what else you've done.
  • Create contents pages for long posts if you expect strangers to read more than the first paragraph.
  • The header looks bad with no padding on the left or right: put it in a text box on the right and leave a simple title.
  • Don't use a Black block with the theme you're using.
Hope that helps.

Thanks Martin. That’s exactly the kind of stuff I struggle with, so much appreciated. Will try and make some of those changes when I have a moment.

Having read this already, via another forum, it's worth saying that it does repay devoting some time to reading it.
