Just grabbed a box of the new Army Painter speedpaints....£34 for ten paints and a brush.

Haven't used them yet but given my total lack of artistic ability they look useful.

There’s a review now out that points out that they reactivate and run when painted over and this has been confirmed by Army Painter. One to watch out for depending on your technique (can be a good or bad feature depending on how you intend to make use of them). Definitely different to Contrast in this regard

Hmm, wonder how they respond to varnish? I do own one pot of GW Contrast paint that I bought to paint a mostly black unit of arabs and its worked really well.

Thanks for posting the link Mr Goat. I have watched several ‘reviews’ and this was not mentioned in any of them. The reactivation is a deal breaker for me and has saved me from finding out the expensive way.

Yep. I was hanging out for these as well, but that's a problem for me. If they reactivate it's not good.

Another review suggests that thin highlights and such aren't an issue, though touching up basecoats is more likely to cause bleedthrough.

Think I’ll stick with my trusty Vallejos and Scale 75’s. Think I’m too old to learn new painting processes

Yeah my facebook is a wash with different groups commenting on this. I'm with the cave dweller, will give them a miss. Will just buy the individual contrast paints I need and they're much more available in local shops too.
