Big CoC in Lincs

Post by levied troop »

The Purple One invited Goat and myself around for a large CoC* at the weekend. My photos don't make for a good AAR as I was more interested in snapping the lovely terrain, but Purps and I took the Germans while Goat managed a joint British/American invasion force:

That cloth Purps made is fantastic in the actual flesh, so to speak:

As is the Farmhouse, which formed one of the objectives:

Cows may safely graze, while sneaky Germans sneak sneakily (and to no effect whatsoever):

I tried to stroll a German squad across the hillside towards the second objective, a road junction, but they were cruelly gunned down by the British A/C and a bunch of squaddies cowering behind a wall:

But I took revenge by ambushing them (twice!) with an MG:

PzIV's are very useful, especially when all the British lob at them is smoke:

But sadly the Germans are forced to withdraw after the Allies utilise their terror weapon, a flamethrower. No photographs are available of the carnage as apparently this is a family-friendly site!

Good fun all round and hopefully to be repeated (the game, not the German defeat).

* I don't know if they've noticed but the Lardies choice of names for their rules can be open to misinterpretation and crude double-entendre. Someone ought to let them know.
I get lockdown, but I get up again.

Looks absolutely fantastic! Flamethrowers are awesome bundles of warm fuzziness, as Jamanicus found out the hard way in our game the other week

Purp's CoC really is quite magnificent in the flesh, those cows are clearly keen on a bit of CoC and bambi's mum must be pretty keen on it too.

I'm shocked that you think that Richard's rules names might be used by the disgusting as the basis for some sort of twisted play on words. Still, if you find it too hard to get your tongue around CoC, Richard has another set of rules pitched at WWII platoon level which should be more palatable.

The Innovative Tactical and Strategic Universal Planner may be a step too far for the Lardies though...

I see no reason why, it would be for role playing king Solomons mines and the front cover would have what looks like a McDs logo on it.

it was a very good game. Purp's cloth made from caulk on felt was absolutely fantastic - i'm definitely going to try out making one myself now. The purp-barn was pretty special as well. The game was a lot of fun to play and worked well as CoC always does. The flamethrower was quite entertaining and slightly made up for LT's "alternative" set of rules where PzIVs appeared to have all the characteristics of Jagdpanthers. Unfortunately though i forgot to take photographs

The game, and the scenery, look excellent and clearly all the great prep paid off. Really sorry I missed this, hope I can make the next one!

The good news Dave is that we have those Germans on the run now though doubtless Purps will revise the "unwritten" scenario rules so that they are defending the Siegfried line
