Post by Peeler »

A generic question requesting your knowledge, from those in the know.

What were the main differences betwixt warfare in the Marlburian era & the SYW?

If any ....

Rate of fire, close order drill, lighter better designed artillery, final abandonment of mounted fire and heavy armour for cavalry, beginnings of horse artillery, regular light cavalry and light infantry. And that's just for starters.

The WSS had (mostly) simpler uniforms - no fiddly lapels, bigger cuffs, simpler designs on mitre caps.

More lace on SYW uniforms compared to Marlburian, simples.
Probably could argue the generals were more dynamic and aggressive in the Marlburian period.
