Well done, Mark.

I've been to Cairns for a week & not had the chance to look at your "final" amendments (we all know in writing rules nothing is final).

I currently use Mark Lite 1.0 ( RMD's earlier ideas + a bit of my input) but I intend to go over your QRS with a fine comb to see what I should add eg the BUA ideas. I don't think I'll adopt them in their entirety which is not a criticism but merely a reflection of where I sit.

Here's to more & happier SYW gaming.

I've just kicked off a SYW campaign today. It's based on the Bohemian Blitzkrieg campaign from one of the Age of Reason supplements, but heavily modified. Really looking forward to it. 🙂

Anyway, Cairns? Bloody hell you were quick off the starting blocks after Grizz mentioned Japanese hens! 😳

I've gone through Mark's QRS, comparing it to my current charts.

Not surprisingly, there's not a lot of difference: after all, the basic game is based on SHAKO mechanisms, & I've already picked his brain in formulating "my" version. Indeed, most of the differences lie in degrees (eg differing artillery ranges or morale ratings). These really are just minor differences of opinion.

I haven't allowed for Horse artillery nor had I properly thought out how to use BUAs so his ideas here will be useful.
There is a greater degree of complexity I won't add - Prussian cavalry fighting in column or columns forming hasty lines & French ordre profond for example. This isn't because I think them wrong but because I want to keep things a little simpler....& any of this stuff can be added for specific games, if desired. I don't have Ottomans nor Russians (sadly) so the material on them will be filed for hopefully future use.

I want to conclude by thanking Mark for his excellent work on TRICORNE, for generously sharing it & just for being, a nice guy.

It's the hunting season, they like to have their weddings in early summer before the weather gets too hot.
