I've decided to go Perry plastic with their FPW Prussians for something a bit different - a bit of "greenstuffing", cuff shaving, and the landwehr heads will produce 1870 Brunswickers (Inf. Regt No.92 in the Prussian army). Whether I make it to Ayton for the above weekend or not, I was already looking at them for an SP2 force anyway; however, a slight re-organisation will give 3x12 regular infantry, plus 1x8 regular cavalry (Hussar Regt No.17), and a field gun (Art. Regt No.10). May even bring a similarly composed second force. Also, bear in mind that the plastic FPW French infantry should - Renedra willing - be out before next year (the 3-Ups already exist), which will give another non-British option.
I seem to have forgotten all about the Perry FPW's despite being very keen on painting some when they were released. Thanks for the reminder, might take a look at these .

Regulars will be BTD AZW brits. They're painted up as Marines at the moment so that'll do.
And Rapier ACW (surplus from our first 19th century steampunk extravaganza) who will easily convert to French-style colonials: FFL in fatigue order or Chasseurs á Pied. There are minor uniform quibbles but I pooh-pooh them.

Irregular forces will include some repurposed Arabic types (foot and cav, from my Nottomans) and Foundry Darkest Africa Askaris.

For unbeatable barganaciousness, check out these eM-4 ACW plastics:

The union types will make colonial troops in french-style uniforms, and the confederates will serve as "Boer" militia.
They look to be cracking value. I love that we're in May and Doug still has his Xmas sale on.

If anyone is determined to add to the number of Brits in the game there are stacks on Ebay and it's less hassle than ordering from Black Tree.https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_ssn= ... lastnazgul

Oops, my bad... the phrase I was actually looking for is "Holy shit, that's a lot of confederates."

I... might have you covered if you don't have troops.

How important is it to stick to the figures per unit you've given? I'm going to have multi based units of tribal and irregular types but I hadn't planned on such numbers. Can I, for instance, have a twelve figure tribal infantry unit but count 'hits' on it up to 16?

Ta.

Considering how some of my tribesmen are based I can hardly say no on this one. As long as the end look/aesthetic is in keeping then that's fine. They are, after all, only a set of rules and not Holy Writ.
Rules? You ask me what rules do I use. No, I don't do rules.
