Re: Partizian 22nd May
I popped down. Very busy show with lots of excellent demo games. I managed to acquire some more lead and the new Soldiers of Napoleon rules.

Re: Partizian 22nd May
Yes, I was working on one of the Demo Games. Huge crowds - some officials reckoned it was the biggest they'd had since the move to the Showground, and having been to several, I would say that was perfectly plausible. Some excellent games - Simon Miller's Roundway Down caught my eye, including a magnificent unit of Lobsters (and not content with a 28mm main version, he also had a 6mm version at one end of the table to show the initial positions - now that's what I call dedication); also a very good Hougoumont hosting a "Big Sharp Practice" game, also in 28mm. Disappointed to have not got away for long enough to play either of the Lardy games (What a Cowboy and a "XXX Corps once again fails to reach Arnhem" CoC game), but hopefully will make up for that at the Workshop Day in August. There was also an Indian Mutiny game with some fantastic scenery/terrain, including a bazaar that was so realistic you could smell it - although that could have been the result of someone blocking the nearby toilets, which overflowed.....
The usual suspects among the traders, but nothing really grabbed me in terms of contraband to be smuggled back into the house at the end of the day (I did try to buy a "Buff Leather" triad from Foundry, but guess which was, quite literally, the only empty spike on their paint rack?). Also recce'd some new - to me, at least - traders, but was extremely disappointed by both (Tree Fellas and ABC Brushes).

So a bit like being "a former Marine"? Only scarier.

ABC Brushes disappointed you, Baron? How so?
I only ask because I really like the brushes I've had from the chap.

Type and quality of stock - I got a couple of friends to go over and have a look at the sets he had for sale and they weren't impressed. Basically, they said stick with Rosemary & Co.

Re: Partizian 22nd May
I popped in for a an hour or so and it was worthwhile. The place had a real buzz and seemed busier than previous shows there. Some of the games were superb too.
Re: Partizian 22nd May
Ta for that. I confess that I'm rather careless with my brushes, so ABC's offerings kind of fit nicely for me between quality and price. I'd go bankrupt if I stuck to Rosemary's brushes.BaronVonWreckedoften wrote: ↑Mon May 23, 2022 3:59 pm Type and quality of stock - I got a couple of friends to go over and have a look at the sets he had for sale and they weren't impressed.
