there was partly that - the subject really deserves an in depth treatment, it would look amazing. The other reason was more practical - just not sure i have the time to paint a 30 (or potentially even larger) force from scratch.

So what are people working on for this year's 19thc extravaganza?

I have started the tarting up of the bases on my C19th SSM FPW type stuff. They are staying gloss....
And I have some Bavarian types in progress as well...

I'm using Bavarian figures but in assorted uniforms drawn from my C18th units...tim.w wrote: ↑Thu Dec 29, 2022 6:34 pmWhat blue are you using for Bavarians?Count Belisarius wrote: ↑Thu Dec 29, 2022 6:22 pm I have started the tarting up of the bases on my C19th SSM FPW type stuff. Yes. I'm gloss varnishing the tufts and static grass...

I've always said you were a man of taste and sophistication, my dear Count.Count Belisarius wrote: ↑Thu Dec 29, 2022 6:22 pm And I have some Bavarian types in progress as well...
Knowing that some of you already had late 19th Century Bavarians. I have decided to visit the other side of my Baronial tree and go for Brunswickers, who still had natty black uniforms and drooping horsehair plumes well into the 1880s. Some boxes of Perry FPW Prussians will give me what I need for IR92, using the landwehr caps with the cords trimmed off and a greenstuff plume, and with the cuff flaps shaved off and some delicate re-pointing as the Polish variety. Already have a unit of hussars (HR17) primed and based. May add a gun if I can find something suitable.
