Cheers Baron- appreciated :)

I prefer the remake..... I'm guessing I'm in a majority of one
I always felt that the 1939 Zoltan Korda version was the best - C Aubrey Smith, Ralph Richardson and Private Fraser playing the Khalifa! (I once served an injunction on Korda's nephew to stop him stripping away the exterior surfaces of a house in order to force a tenant (my client) to leave; the interior plasterwork was all that was between him and the elements.)

During the filming of the "big battle" in the film one of the Dervish "extras" insisted on charging into the British lines and running about, when they had all been ordered to "die" at rifle range. Korda called him over and demanded to know what he was playing at, to which he replied: "Well, the British didn't kill me in the real battle, so I don't see why they should get to kill me in this one."

1939...... I've watched it (obviously) but it does make one shudder when you reckon with how old it actually is. And how old I'm becoming :wall:

One would wish that there was a way to reverse the process.

Careful - the others will be here soon with Sudan puns. I'm too thick to think of any.
