Lovely looking unit, and rather nice little musketeer figures.

Cheers. Yeah, it's the first unit I've done with the Eureka Austrians and they're lovely. I've painted the Eureka Prussians, French and British infantry figures and I think these are my favourite.

Love the Reichsarmee uniforms, I remember being in awe of some pictures John Ray posted on the now defunct AMG forum years ago

They also do the job for Hannoverians (with British officer figures) and Saxons (with Russian or Austrian officer figures) as well. Versatile little lads, really.

Me too. These fellas weren't Reichsarmee though.

It's explained in the article, but there were a few regiments (Red Wurzburg, Blue Wurzburg, Mainz-Lamberg, Toscana and Anhalt-Zerbst) that were raised at Austrian expense to fight with the Austrian army. The Austrians also paid Wurttemberg and Bavaria to each provide Austria with an auxiliary corps and on top of that, the Austrians paid Pfalz to provide two regiments (II./Garde zu Fuss and the Kurfurstin Leib-Dragoons) to make up the numbers for the Upper Saxon Circle, who were struggling to recruit following the Prussian occupation of Saxony. These regiments were in addition to the recruitment quotas for the Reichsarmee and were generally good, well-trained units.

However, Austria did then send Blue Wurzburg to the Reichsarmee as part of its own contribution and in 1760 added Red Wurzburg and Mainz-Lamberg, followed in 1762 by Anhalt-Zerbst.
