Amusingly, the people of Sydney are currently freaking out because the discovery of a 2.5 metre snake skin indicates someone has let loose a boa constrictor.

Living in the roof space of our old house (we moved 3 months ago) was a 4 metre carpet snake. I miss the old devil (he's been coming for at least 10 years) but amuse myself when I think about the new owners, unwittingly venturing up there to check something. He is, basically, harmless but he'll give you a shock if you come upon him unexpectedly.

Never mind the Boa, you want to watch out for the incredibly venomous and aggressive brown snakes, common down the east coast of Oz.

Not as exciting a name as a Black Mamba or a King Cobra, or even a red bellied black, but they are aggressive, and rated the second most poisonous land snake in the world. (behind another Australian snake.. the inland Taipan, who woulda thunk it?),

We used to get them regularly in the garden, and they grow big, wikipedia says they grow up to 2m but I reckon I've seen bigger. So I've no idea why they are freaking out about a baby boa.

We got Mambas, Boomslangs and Puffadders regularly in the garden. Egyptian cobras every now and then

They're Sydneysiders!

We have funnel webs, redbacks, blue ringed octopussys, Box Jellyfish. We can frighten off anyone with our wildlife.

The only king brown I have ever seen was in the Northern Territory, it was at least three metres and looked as though it was made of weathered copper.
