I doubt if Iain would approve of dwarves riding highland coos either.
I shall peruse my Russians box and may add a brigade featuring some donkey wallopers.

That said, we're aiming for the right 'look', so splitting a twelve figure unit down to make two units would be very naughty. We'd much prefer players to combine two units of six to make something that looks a bit beefier.

I'm sorry but this is where I should point out that beef comes from cows and cowboys did not really feature in the 18th Century

Have you been on the red wine again, Bro?

Actually, the term "cowboy" (as opposed to the more usual and ancient "cowherd") first appeared in print in 1725, courtesy of Dean Jonathan Swift. It came to prominence militarily during the AWI when the name was given to units of "irregulars" - mainly Loyalist - who rustled cattle, and anything else not nailed down. And the occasional item that was nailed down.

A sound and well established military tradition.

One of the times when wikipedia isn't that reliable
The term was certainly "in print" by 1646 and presumably in general use before that. ("The Irish Rebellion........" first published in 1646 (accounting events starting 5 years earlier) and reprinted in 1679).

Hi John, if your 36 figures could be deployed as 3x12, it would help a lot as not only would the unit size be spot on, but the important '3 units per brigade' structure would remain intact to support the rules. I realise that this may mean a converged look to some units, but sometimes in (fictitious) war sacrifices must be made!
Yep I can do that, now I know what to work to

Many thanks, John.
Everyone else.......
Is there anyone out there who will be playing but hasn't yet given a list or, will be playing but will need troops. A response asap would be appreciated.
Don't forget, I only need an approximation of numbers for the time being - but it would be really helpful to be able to start drawing up lists now.
