Quite right :D
I didn’t go for the trebuchet on the basis I can buy others elsewhere. I did go for the crew though, they were nicely done.

Paul - did you see that Andy’s added more shield transfers to the pledge manager?

The Sarissa one looks about right as it's throwing arm is in excess of 50ft in scale? Obviously the real ones varied in size depending on a number of factors but I don't think many went beyond 60ft for the arm.

Neanderthal refers to my default megalomania rather than historical accuracy :D

The good news is I can make 6 foot length of walls with an alternative 18” breached section. The bad news is I need one more battlement section to help tie in the breached section to the rest. I’ve started a wanted ad on LAF to see if anyone’s got one, if not I’ll try building a bit or testing out the temporary construction idea.

Ah! Thanks, did not spot that on my google search.

Edit: and now it is mine [insert evil laugh here]. Just what I needed to finish - funnily enough Aethling came up with the same link on LAF at about the same time :D

So, I've laid out the main structure, just on 6 feet long with an optional breached 3-wall section. My next issue is - 3 level towers at the 'corners' or just 2 level? The 3 level version:

and the 2-level version:

For scale:

All views welcome - there's a option of making the top removable and changing between the different options at will, but I worry that will look a little obvious on the join.

Next stage is to get the battlements on and start the filling of various small cracks and gaps and final flash removal.

I prefer two level as I think it gives more aesthetic variety in conjunction with the three level gatehouse and just looks more in keeping with the single height walls...but i'm not a meglomaniac :)
It'll certainly be an impressive structure, is it spurred on by the Barons war KS or just a general Medieval interest?

Despite my megalomania I agree that two looks better - but always open to other opinions :D

I do have a general medieval interest and there’s about 4 different medieval projects bubbling along in the Troop basements, so buying this off Fenris when he offered it was an ‘investment’ plan - it’ll fit with all of the projects. But the Baron’s War stuff has launched this build now, I didn’t know much about the early 13th Century beyond King John = bad, Magna Carta = good, but now I’m delving into all sorts of bits and pieces (just what the f**k is a ‘knight’!) and finding it fascinating. Even apart from all those nice figures.

On the basis of "all views welcome".....I don't think that the curtain walls being lower than those on the gatehouse looks quite right - I can't think of a single mediaeval castle I've visited where the curtain and gatehouse walls aren't either the same height, or much closer to it. Of course, to rectify the "problem" you will now need to buy a lot more wall sections......

Just thought, you could create banking under the curtain walls to raise them a bit.
