Thanks to those providing helpful replies. The rest of you know who you are. In Canberra, I just used to wander down to Eckersleys. No longer an available option.

The many Sassenachs here don't really appreciate their proximity to all sorts of hobby supplies. Even if a decent art store isn't close, they don't pay the proverbial limb in P&P.

Of course there are the compensations in living in OZ: the snakes, skin cancer & Bush fires.

My pool, the 1 km sq block, my 4 litre Falcon, bbq and sunshine... yeah. It's a tradeoff.

I bought some Windsor & Newton and also Rosemary - my painting still sucks.

The much cheaper Humbrol President Brush series (pun intended) was good, 0 and 00

....oh and I also use wet paper towels to wipe my brushes

I like a strong black coffee with my early morning painting sessions.

I find it cleans brushes in between colours. Warm water and soap and a quick reshape of the point at the end of the session.

I use cheap and cheerful brushes from Artmaster which I get from my local Art Shop. Once the point goes I consign them to dry brushing or the bin.

Artmaster are a local firm and run by the husband of Rosemary who runs the slightly more up market Rosemary brushes.
