Day 2 - Bruce Catton - American Civil War. My first proper military history book.
My Airfix armies had a reason to fight using the basic rules from Charge.

Operation Warboard would be on my list.
If you can find an alternative to the machine gun grid, still an excellent set of ww2 rules.

Book One - Charge. The best book ever written. And it still smell great.
Book Two - 1815: The Armies at Waterloo, Ugo Pericoli. A truly awesome book.

I remember those perspective views from a history of the Civil war. I always wanted to fight the battles with 1 6mm figure per man in the picture.

That’s the book! Don’t remember the cover but those maps! I’d pore over it in the school library every chance I got.
Even now I’d fancy having a go at building a game like that last image.
