Much neglected, very influential through his 8th Army in the Desert and DAK series in Airfix Magazine and Guides, tremendous modeller, original thinker, who was very influential on Rapid Fire. Just a shame the book doesn't fully set out his "Sandskrieg" rules.

I don't ever recall seeing that book and, sadly, I can't find a copy for sale now.

I remember his modelling articles but hadn't realised that John Sanders was also a wargamer.

I was influenced by John's articles on Mahnraf Ridge in Miniature Warfare in 1971.
So much so that my brother and I built the 8th Army and Afrika Corps and battled out games on our dads garage floor which we covered with a cloth and sand.
We used WRG 1925 1950 rules.
I still have some of the old tanks we used.

All the lovelier because his Brits and Commonwealth were all from Series 1 Airfix 8th Army - one of my all time favourite Airfix sets

Got the Sandars book for a fiver at Partizan last year. Very happy I was.
