Don't know if any of you have seen the above. It is rather a lot of money to pay for a wargames company (quite apart from the issue of the shares remaining with their current holders), but if any of you have a quarter of a mill handy, I for one would very much like to know what happened to their older ranges that you don't see any more.

Re: Front Rank up for sale
They are selling everything, except the shares? So they are selling the company but not the company.
This seems... odd.
No way anyone sensible would buy a company that did not come with majority shareholding.

A very high valuation if they are not selling a majority shareholding.FreddBloggs wrote: ↑Thu May 20, 2021 5:25 pm They are selling everything, except the shares? So they are selling the company but not the company.

Given the turnover, a maximum real value for a minority shareholding would be sub £150k!! Probably less given that actually operating the company comes with liabilities. No mention too of whether the reproduction rights rest with the shareholders or the "Assets" being sold.
If they rest with the "Assets" then my approach would be to buy those and use them to start a new company, then the shares you're not buying become worthless in any case. If the rights rest with the shareholders then all you're actually buying is the equipment and stock.

So.... are the current owners still wanting to have a controlling share interest in the company after they've sold all the gubbins yo a new 'owner'?

All a bit odd. At any rate I hope that they work something out with a buyer and enjoy a happy retirement.
Re: Front Rank up for sale
Worth only what someone will pay, not what they think it should be worth. £1/4million for a wargames company is plainly daft if you don't own the business, merely the chattels.
There is no point in being stupid if you don't show it!

Re: Front Rank up for sale
It’s not an unusual proposition. An asset sale means the buyer doesn’t acquire the liabilities and obligations of the former company, which can mean a lower risk for the buyer but there are all sorts of pros and cons

Re: Front Rank up for sale
At the start, I was buying Front Rank by popping round Dave’s house in Southend and waiting in his front room while he dug them out from the back. There’s some great ranges in that sale and if future owners can keep the style and add a little more variety of pose to the existing ranges then it could become a big seller again.
