Is there a good yellow hobby paint? I'm using 2 different Vallejo ones but the result is slow to achieve anything acceptable.
I get that it's opaque but the number of coats required is a bit excessive.
Just live with it?

I’ve never got on with vallejo yellows. My best results come from one of the following depending on mood
Foundry Ochre triad. Ignore the name, it’s yellow and gives great coverage as a triad
Citadel averland sunset is an really good high pigment base coat. Excellent coverage , you can highlight it up for brighter yellows
Citadel Iyanden yellow contrast paint over a white (or near white) undercoat gives a very pleasing result

Lots of thin coats of Vallejo yellow work. I speed it up by using a hair dryer on coats
A yellow brown base works well for them

This is my go to yellow, I buy it from Trago Mills or garden art supplies about £1.20 - £1.50.
It covers well and mixes well.
First picture strait from the bottle onto paper one pass of the brush.

This^^
Although I am filled with fear now that I am coming to the end of my stash of these and I have heard that the quality of Foundry Paint has slumped somewhat recently

Look no further than the Foundry Ochre shade and light, great coverage and solid colour. I largely ignore three layers now on wargames figures as you may have noticed. No time for angst about it all.

Vallejo yellows work well for me
I mix VJ Desert Yellow (or Goldbrown)and Flat Yellow for a base coat and then either use flat yellow alone for second coat or some of the other yellows like deep yellow or light yellow, sometimes add pale sand depending and what tone I want
That's also over a black undercoat

Humbrol yellow, if putting it on a dark surface, put down some matt white first.
