Just before Christmas we had a refight of the Combat of Gorlitz (or Moys) in order to play-test a few new ideas for converting 'Shako' Napoleonic rules to the Seven Years War.
...........I've got a SYW game scheduled for the 4th. I'd decided on Lutterberg - French versus various Allied dregs.
I am seriously tempted to shelve that & fight Gorlitz.......though I may substitute the French for the Austrians as I don't quite have enough of the Austrians for the game.
For rules, using some tips from Mark & also from an American pal, I've cobbled together another SHAKO SYW variant which I've entitled "Bunnet" (in case I ever raise a British army).

A great contest & the 'eye-candy' was pleasing.

Cheers!
Yeah, sorry the rules write-up is taking a while... Bear in mind, that my Prussians got ridiculously lucky with their dice-rolling and the Law of Averages should have seen me losing that redoubt on Turn 2 and never getting it back! However, there are quite a few elites knocking around to have a good stab at a counter-attack.
Hi, Mark,
what appeal would wargaming have if Prussian Landwehr didn't have, at least, the possibility of destroying Napoleon's Old Guard? Sounds to me you got things right.
"My" 'Bunnet' rules rely on your ideas already. I'll certainly look at any further material you produce & make adjustments as needed.
An epic report, Mark, of what looked to be a really enjoyable, close-run battle. Excellent stuff. Yes, I am jealous!
I'm with Donald- chance plays a big part in war and without it wargaming would just be a confusingly large game of chess. Have the Beneckendorff grenadiers been awarded special privileges for their valour?
It appears that Los Rios have a habit of beating up the Württemburg Dragoons. Mine have met on the table twice- face to face and once face to (Los Rios') flank- and Los Rios was able to smack the dragoons twice. For some reason I forgot to take a photo of the Dragoons routing back from the below engagement....
Stay well.
Dal.

If "The System" is the answer, who asked such a bloody stupid question?
