Hi all, looking for some spears. Ladt lot I got are very thin and don't quite look right on the figures. Was wondering if anyone had any recommends on decent spears in 28mm for models what need them.

There I was thinking this was about satisfying Gaynor.

I tend to use big paper clips from Rymans, they are about twice as thick as the wire spears from Gripping Beast etc. but take a bit of shaping. I hammer them straight, flatten one end and then shape it to a point with a pair of side cutters and a needle file.

One can never, ever, satisfy Gaynor.

Believe it or not this is the third time in two days that I've written this. Try plastic bristles from a yard broom. Flatten one end and cut yer diamond shape pike head and it's done. A friend has used them for years for his Ancient phalangites and ECW pikemen. They are are both strong and flexible -a bit like Gaynor I suppose.

Do you do that technique for your 6mm subs ? Or are the bristles too thick ?

Paint brush bristles - they make good radio aerials too.

A spear shaft in scale for 28mm should only be about 0.8-0.9mm at most. But we are not dealing with a representation of life and thin spears can look wrong against chunky figures. I think my spears come from Perrys or foundry. I bought a lifetime supply years ago and haven't managed to get similar ones since!
