Parody award/medal

Post by ochoin »

Our annual wargames' show is on the weekend. AZW with 3 column commanders competing to relieve Rorke's Drift. The entire Zulu army is there, on auto-pilot.

I had thought of a mock award to the winner. Obviously not a "real" medal (eg the VC) which would be offensive but something in the parody line. ....The DDC (Dirty Double Cross) or the Chelmsford Cross for double-crossing your subordinates etc. I'll make some sort of medallion & hang it on a ribbon.

I'm open to your wit and suggestions.

The DSF (Did Society a Favour) for a complete idiot who gets himself killed before having children?
Kein Plan überlebt den ersten Kontakt mit den Würfeln. (No plan survives the first contact with the dice.)
Baron Mannshed von Wreckedoften, First Sea Lord of the Bavarian Admiralty.

I'm going with the O.I.E. - Order of Imperial Ineptitude. This award was created by Lord Chelmsford who was also the first recipient. And the O.F. -- Order of the Fox, Given to mark the worthy recipient's complete untrustworthiness.

I've mocked up the two medals & at the end of each day's gaming, I'll award it one of the 3 players.

Donald why not the "Light brigade medal" awarded to those of no tactical ability and a total disregarded for military tactics.
Or" He's a good chap medal" awarded to the right sort of officer, right club membership, father owns a country seat, mixes in the right circle, drinks champagne for breakfast and no idea of military tactics. Leadership is all about being a top chap, "what ho Martha".
