Converged Grenadier units

Here’s another for the Brains Trust. Did British converged Grenadier units during the SYW carry any Colours? I presume they would have drummers etc.

Also, British Grenadier companies I believe are small, so converged battalions are made up of quite a few regiments worth so you probably need to be giving each stand different facings so it’s super sexy.

That was the plan Master Purps. The one at Minden was comprised of the 6 regiments present. I planned to do 6 bases of 4 figures.

British flank battalions (either type) never carried colours in any war. During the SYW, British companies were about 100 strong, so Maxwell's battalion of 6 companies would have been about 600 all ranks.

As regards drummers, each company had two in this period, I think; however, the grenadier company also had two fifers.

So you can march into battle playing the theme from Z-Cars if you wish.

All of the above, 're drummers & fiffers & the z cars tune. They wouldn't have any colours to carry.

Thanks chaps. I figured they wouldn’t. I doubt they’ll be present for Ayton seeing as I still have a foot and a mounted regiment to complete!

But definitely for Purp’ summer game....
