I quite fancy painting up a few trojan rampant units of these guys (the warrior on the right holding the spear). I havent seen anything similar in metal so It looks like a plastic conversion job. My question 1: relates to the "poncho" style bronze armour - would this be straighforward using that putty some of you use for conversions?

Question 2: any ideas on how to reproduce the horns?

I'm going for either Victrix Romans II or the Carthiginan citizan infantry or maybe both to complete the conversion.

In greenstuff it would be pretty simple to roll some out thinly on some stretched clingfilm, use a blunt-ish knife to cut the shape then using the clingfilm apply the shape to the miniature. Press it into the body fairly firmly and then peel off the film before using a shaping tool or a knife to apply the detail of the lamellae. For the horns, which are really quite slim, I would cut a piece of soft wire to shape and then file it down to a taper at either end. Drill straight through the helmet, bend to shape and use some runny superglue to seal it in place. Not difficult but you wouldn't want to do more than a dozen of them.

Is greenstuff the name of the product?

Green Stuff or Kneadatite is another name. Look for the strips of blue and yellow chewing gum type stuff

I think Minibits now sell it and they do it in separate tubes. The strips where the yellow and blue are joined side by side can get a bit stiff over time where the two colours join.

Pretty sure you can buy it from the modelling section in Hobbycraft, too.

I think I can manage the greenstuff armour - not sure about the horns though!

I prefer Milliput myself.
As badger says, you can get the job done simple enough but it will take a lot of time and patience, you might lose the will to live after three.
The horns as said, drill some florist wire in there. You could even pop some fat milliput sausages on the drilled in wires and then shave them down carefully with a knife when it’s set.

you can mix milliput and greenstuff to give a better handling putty.

Strangly that illustration is one I using for 6mm Achaens.
