Castle Build

So I like medievals and I wanted a town walls/castle build to provide a backdrop to some of the siege work demanded by the various kerfuffles from 1200 to 1450. Hence, quite a bit of Tabletop Workshop's modular kit acquired from that nice Ian Brumby at Fenris:
After some careful dry-fitting (Tabletop Workshop isn't easily available anymore and I don't want to screw up any of the pieces):
A quick check for height, looks about right for town walls:
My problem will be that the usual pack of walls has two but only one battlement/top walkway set as they are planned to be twice the height. I’ve only just realised that cuts down the length I can do
. Doubling the height is potentially unnecessary as these are only town walls:
I also plan to build some breached sections to drop in as required, so a bit more fiddling about is needed to see how much length I can get

Didn’t some walls have wooden battlements/walkways for a number of years before they got round to finishing off the stone ones ! Could you build something like that for the extra lengths ?

Where I've seen surviving Medieval or roman town walls they're all well in excess of 20ft, without crenellations, so the double height wall is probably not wrong if you wanted to go with that.

That’s a sensible idea (who are you and what have you done with Goat Boy?), I was going to try some Renendra wooden fencing for the back of the battlements. Maybe beefed up a little that would work for the front- I quite like the idea of a medieval men at work sign.
Paul - I think you are right, but I may not have enough to do a reasonable length at double height. Bits of York and Chester are shorter, although set up on embarked earth so as to be higher. I might look at a small embankment?

Embankment might be the go.
Have you thought about using paper sheets with a stone pattern for the bottom bits? The sort of thing you buy, fairly cheaply, from model train shops. Cut to size & glue on mdf. If the pattern is different, even better because most of these things were built on earlier foundations.

Obviously the town walls I know best were Winchesters, where even the largely surviving Roman bits are still over 20ft, and Berwicks which are on an embankment so i'm sure either would work fine.

The embankment is a great idea.
How about a moat?
I know you love modelling water and you could do a section with a moat monster.

As you well know, I’ve had two failures with water. You want be to make it a third?
‘Cos I will you know!
I like the idea of the scaffolding, that Gangs of Rome game had them didn’t it.
No progress today, kitchen bashing instead.
