Zvesda SYW Garde

Post by ochoin »

I bothered you good people about buying some of the Zvesda 1/72 Prussian SYW figures.

Well, I did & I've completed a unit: II Battalion Garde.

I'm reasonably pleased with the 20 figure unit (Guard -sized unit in my rules).

I've experimented with cutting off the mitres & gluing on 3 cornered hats from the HaT SYW sets & think I will do a 16 figure Garrison regiment (militia-sized units in my rules).

Splendid and gorgeous, Donald. And so are the Garde.

I thought your SYW activities had come to a natural conclusion?

My French SYW army has a guard unit, so it didn't seem out of place to add this one to my Prussian army.
My home-groan SYW rules give quite a bit of power to a Guard-quality unit so one a piece is probably plenty.
As for the Garrison battalion(s - I may add two), Fred's boys are rather light on poor quality units & I have the figures after buying two boxes of the Zvesda Grenadiers.

A SYW game is so far out of the question, I wouldn't think this year would see it. Schedule is chock-filled with Naps, ACW, ECW & probably some 'Fun with Zulus'.
