19th Prussian infantry 2nd battalion.

Needed a break from fort building, so I painted this battalion of Spencer Smiths this week.

Nice looking chaps. I'm a bit concerned that the 3 figures in the last photo look like OAPs with their white hair & whiskers.
Surely they deserve to be pensioned off?

Indeed - always nice to see! Spiffing, in fact.

On a technical point, were there any obvious (at this scale/size, anyway) uniform differences between 1st and 2nd Battalion personnel?

No easy answer to this, mate. The Leibgarde Regiment excepted, the battalions all had the same uniform. Whether they used coloured sword knots to distinguish each company, as was done from at least FWII's reign onwards, I can't answer. Modern illustrators (Menzel, Dorn, Jany) show coloured knots and sometimes all white. But all white may indicate the Leib Kompangie, as it did in 1792. My German isn't good enough for me to have ferreted out any firm answer and Kronoskaf dodges the issue by not discussing sword knots.

Of course, only a madman would paint the company colours of sword knots on 20mm figures. And never on AB 15's, no matter how well detailed they were.
