He also wrote "The Mask of Command" and "A History of Warfare" - both equally good in my opinion; in fact, the three make an interesting trilogy to take on holiday.

The Price of Admiralty is another one by Keegan worthy of reading. The naval equivalent of The Mask of Command.

6 armies in Normandy. But his ww1 is still the best overview.

Book 9 - The War Game by Charles Grant

No surprise that this classic is on my list. I got my copy as a Christmas present in 1971. I still use these rules today.
