Insanity. Give me an aeroplane with no engine whatsoever, anyday.

Right, booked in for Lake District Gyroplanes. The next Friday that has viable flying weather, I'm going to fly an autogyro. You lot can have me toy soldiers if I scatter meself over the fells.
Could you make sure Piers Morgan is standing underneath you?

Today's additional restrictions are going to put the mockers on my airborne ambitions, dammit!

Someone calculated that the Wessex could fly without a tail rotor so long as the airspeed doesn't drop below 90 knots. Below that the airframe starts turning in the opposite direction to the main rotors.

I've been told that is true of any chopper. Certainly taking control in level flightyou hardly touch the pedals. Problem was, we were doing a pass over a tight drop off, so we were about 75 kts when the rotor sheared. Fast enough to slide up a tree branch, but not fast enough to keep calm and carry on.

One of the rolling headlines on the BBC News this morning:

"Government announces that people in the North East cannot socialise under any circumstances."

Better to have tried and failed than not have tried at all, surely?

In groups of 6 or less, and not in anybody's house. So basically, swinging is severely curtailed, but dogging is now compulsory.

Edited to add: I must point out that I only intended to fly the thing, not shag it.

Shagging is ok in the park? OK, I can live with that.
