A spear shaft in scale for 28mm should only be about 0.8-0.9mm at most. But we are not dealing with a representation of life and thin spears can look wrong against chunky figures. I think my spears come from Perrys or foundry. I bought a lifetime supply years ago and haven't managed to get similar ones since!
If you bought a lifetimes supply then, why would you need to buty more now?

No mate, I buy figures with spears already there. I may be a bit daft but there is a limit. Lifes way too short to have to fiddle around with attaching spears to 6mm.
Didn't mention it before but my mate uses them for his big chaps.

Some of Those Warlord plastic Germans I’m working on have hands like Peter Shilton... but attached to a toddler. Genuinely bigger than the entire head and neck.
