I do recall losing my balance getting out of a chair, sticking out a hand, and suddenly discovering a couple of stands of pike embedded in the ball of my thumb. That said, It can be a canny, if somewhat painful, method of moving figures into/out of missile/charge range when you pull them out and reposition them on the table......

I nearly had an eye out on some pikey ECW figures, twice. I saw the point after that & was more careful.

Followed your advice & tracked down & bought the bespoke Florists wire.
