Yes, I've got Kurtrier done - you can just spot one in the pic above (white coats, blue border to flag, which I think came from Warflag) and I made some Red Wurzburg flags using the Kronoskaf pics. There are some conjectural flags for both Mainz flags floating around the web, so I've used those (Imperial eagles with arms of Mainz and broad facing-coloured stripes on the Regimental Colours). I've also now got the Blue Wurzburg flags from David's site. Just need to paint the figures now.Spanner wrote: ↑Fri Apr 29, 2022 8:13 am There's descriptions of the flags for Kurtrier, and illustrations of possible Würzburg flags, on Kronoskaf. David had some good conjecturals on NBA, as well. Kurmainz, though, would be pure guesswork. However, Colonel's colour white field with the imperial eagle bearing the arms of Mainz in a cartouche, or just the arms in a wreath, would fit the flag fashions of the day. Make the Regimental colour's field green but otherwise the same pattern. I wouldn't worry too much- if there's no information then what can you do?
You can always have the colours cased?

If I may interrupt the vexillologists..... a spiffingly good looking game, Mark.

Thanks Donald!
Indeed it does! It also goes way beyond the traditional view of being 'linear' (although this is probably a bad example, being possibly the most linear battle of the war!). There are also a lot of incredibly complex battles, where from the few available maps and accounts, I simply can't work out what the hell was going on!

Are you available to command the forces of the Gateway Alliance, by any chance?

Mark, I noticed that one.
Donald,
Donald,
Except for Kölin, Zorndorf and Kunersdorf, perhaps, where instead of finesse Fred seemed to be relying on hope and ego.Isn't the SYW a moveable feast of minor & major battles, equal & unequal opponents, tactical finesse & strategic challenge?
If "The System" is the answer, who asked such a bloody stupid question?
Re: The Combat of Zinna 1759 - The Scenario
I think it's fair to say that in all of those, Fred TRIED going for finesse (epic flank-marches to fall upon the enemy's rear) but forgot the old maxim that 'The enemy always gets a vote'. When it didn't work (flank-marching within the enemy's view is rarely a good option) he then went for the 'bullying through'.Spanner wrote: ↑Sat Apr 30, 2022 2:39 am Mark, I noticed that one.

I wonder. At Kölin and Kunersdorf it seemed he got his army on the field but left his ideas behind, so tried the same old trick again. Zorndorf is just a mystery to me. Why attack such a strong position when he could have picked better ground for himself and let the Russians come to him?Fred TRIED going for finesse
Sorry, straying off topic. Have you re-fought the battle yet?
