Just to wrench the discussion back onto the rails for a moment, are we allowed to use the options available in the rulebook?

I am not sure this game will cope, with mine and the Barons tactic!

Yes of course Buff.
Rules? You ask me what rules do I use. No, I don't do rules.

No we're wise to that now, whoever's side you are on will be advised to keep weapons trained on you both at all times, until you can be ordered to charge an enemy with no hope of success.

tim.w wrote: Mon May 09, 2022 7:57 pm Serious question as they are available to my force, can we field elephants?

Major Cormac McCaramac will be supporting the Last King of Kumbahyah Chief N'em Inem in a mixed force of tribal warriors and well drilled troops from the East Bongo Company a subsidiary of Terry's Chocolate of York.
All right, the puns are amusing, but you lost brownie points with the spelling. An elephant will cost you 10 points, with a crew of 3 and a mahout at 2 points extra. But I will have to work out some stats for it. No mumakil though, it must be of a realistic and proportionate size to 28mm figures.
I was being a tad harsh there wasn't I? I will have a close look at the stats in the rules and select a suitable one for elephants. Points cost will include crew and Mahout, and I shall make it a more reasonable cost. Apologies for my lack of patience, it's been a trying week. I suppose I am going to have to do the same thing for laser armed camels as well. Except they won't have lasers.
Rules? You ask me what rules do I use. No, I don't do rules.

Tim, might be an idea if everyone could bring one or two pieces of baggage (no, not their MiL) on top of their 30 points? That way we could accumulate them for baggage train scenarios, etc?

I have quite a lot of jungleish trees I can bring up if needed?

The old GW plastic ones. They look great en masse and are wargamer friendly.

I'm mindful of the fact that Tim has been doing most of the heavy lifting do far to get this off the ground - thanks Tim - so I probably need to pull my finger out and get started. As has been said, one of the reasons for choosing 19th century Colonial - besides the enthusiastic response of those at Ayton - is that we have a pretty big pool of figures and assorted terrain in reserve. To that end, anyone who wishes to take part but doesn't have a force is more than welcome.

Having said that, I'd like to start drawing up a list of what people have, so that we can start to design some scenarios and timeline for the weekend. There's no need to be precise about your force composition but please let me know - either here, or if you want to be all coy about it, via private message -
. what force you want to bring ('nationality', approximate composition),
. the name of your force leader and any other notable characters involved
. (I hesitate to ask this, but...) does it include anything unusual you wish us to consider/rule out/come up with rules for,
. whether you need to borrow figures to top it up,
. if you want to come along but have no troops,
. are you prepared to play a force of 'indigenous tribes', either for the weekend or for one game

(Sits back and waits for the fun to begin . . . . .. )
Why us? Cos we're 'ere lad, nobody else.

Force: AZW British themed
Name: still pondering over this. Good things take time
Unusual: Nope
Borrow troops: Nope
Indigenous troops: yes, would like to play them on the one day and the Colonials on the other. I can supply at least 30 points of Zulus, which I would like to use.

Think I am going down the North West Frontier route using Perry figs. Bought the rules and have received a telegram from Major Cadbury Bournville retd asking if he can lead my force, I think he wants to get out of the country until the scandal involving him and Miss Jemima Dolally has dropped out of the Illustrated London News, and who can blame him ??
