No, I've never been to that one. I've been to the 9/12L museum in Derby though.

Always too busy when we're up there, as it's the Memsahib's home turf. People to see, things to do...

Nah, not really. As with a lot of regimental museums, it's the bare bones of a once-larger collection, stuffed into a corner of the city museum.

Thanks, Mark, I know what you mean. I'll give it a miss. There seems to be a lot of that about here as well. What good are museums, anyway, especially if a nice developer could use the building's grounds? Or removing the museum and display area could make space for 80 more poker machines?

One interesting thing the Derby museum does have is the complete wood-paneled room that Bonnie Prince Charlie stayed in when he reached Derby (removed from a pub down the road).

Have you ever been to the QRL museum at Thoresby Hall? If not it's worth a visit if you are up in north Nottinghamshire.

Are they still displaying that "American Revolution-era coat" that looks amazingly like a late-Regency/early-Victorian Yeomanry uniform?

I've just been through the photos and no, mate, it wasn't on display in October 2019. All the artifacts in the display cases (and most on walls, tables and manikins) were well identified and, where appropriate, were identified as replicas and facsimiles (at least sometimes). Here's the description plate for items on display in the late C18 case.
