This contemporary source rates the Pike as a better weapon for single combat than anything else shorter than eight foot.

Very interesting link Paul. Did you see the part that said:

A bit cruel of the writer to have slated off poor old EB like that. Probably never even met him.

I thought the 'Cave of Contempt' was the nickname for the 'Lettuce Fridge'.
