I must admit that I thought all the ex-Saxon regiments were made "fusiliers" because of their inferior size, compared to the normal Prussian recruits?
Anyway, nice unit - as usual!

Well done, can't believe how quickly you are turning out new units

One of my favourite regiments, Willz. They could run faster than Usain Bolt, but their uniforms and flags looked good.
The regiment's flags served for a lot longer than the regiment did. After being laid up when the regiment was disbanded they would be passed to the new IR 58 in 1772. The flags would be carried right through the Napoleonic Wars, including Waterloo.
There's lots of theories and some discussions about why they were classed as fusiliers, and why they didn't wear the fusilier mitres, mate. I don't think there was much difference in average height between Saxons, Brandenburgers and Pommeranians (though most of the Saxon "recruits" didn't hang around long enough to get measured, in any case). If they'd been shorter they may have got the fusilier mitres. All the "new" regiments raised by Fred from 1740, with a couple of exceptions, were classed as fusiliers (and were regarded by the rest of the army as "lesser" troops) and the Saxons, despite their tricornes, got the same classification.by BaronVonWreckedoften » 19 Feb 2023

If "The System" is the answer, who asked such a bloody stupid question?

Thanks to both of you. I had forgotten that the Saxons also got shorter muskets due to their "fusilier" status - so fewer "Laurel and Hardy" moments when accessing doorways etc.
(Spanner - did I see a certain Dal Gavan mentioned amongst those Kronoskaf sources?)
