SYW French on the march

I really love my SYW French army. They rarely win but they have colour, presence, panache.
Anyway, on display:
19 infantry battalions, 8 cavalry regiments, light troops, artillery etc:

The van, guarded by light troops:




A mounted dragoon brigade, leading the way, while a dismounted unit prepares for trouble:

Far too many figures but you have to like the flags!

I was going to wax lyrical about 1/72 plastic armies, but I see that the infantry at least are mostly metal Wodensfeld (and some Old John 'specials').

It's a beautiful, and perfectly formed, collection Donald.

I was going to wax lyrical about 1/72 plastic armies, but I see that the infantry at least are mostly metal Wodensfeld (and some Old John 'specials').

The cavalry & artillery are all plastic - Revell, Zvesda & Red Box. No one makes French SYW so you have to improvise.

You are too modest to acknowledge the Etranger battalions are figures YOU sculpted. You are a talented man, Iain.
i am just surprised you don't comment on the gorgeous flags.

Thanks, Will. I am not satisfied with the limber horses. Most are galloping & it looks silly. Suitable, standing horses in this scale are not really attainable
- you can get a few if you buy this plastic set or that one,but I need about 26 of the beasts.
