Kicking the tires on a new period.
Re: Kicking the tires on a new period.
Pikes did skirmish of course, there's accounts of it during the ECW and from the methods of training for Swiss pike.

Alexander trained his Hypaspists to do both. Of course, they dropped the pike when skirmishing in favor of a long spear

I reckon that with a dagger and a light shield I could make mincemeat of a skirmishing piker.

interesting observation. So maybe it would make more sense for the pikemen to stand closer together. And perhaps take advantage of the reach of their weapons ?

Exactly, one on one, even with one leg, I'd kill the bugger. 100 on 100, they are invincible.goat major wrote: ↑Sun Oct 07, 2018 12:26 pminteresting observation. So maybe it would make more sense for the pikemen to stand closer together. And perhaps take advantage of the reach of their weapons ?

Skirmishing pike is too mainstream.
I don’t regard any ruleset as complete unless it includes rules for Thrown Pike.
